Archbishop’s Message

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Greetings in the wonderful name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

We lift thanks and glorify the name of almighty God, Who grants us the ability and strength to fulfil one of the most important tasks in preserving and maintaining the faith, doctrine and teachings of our beloved Assyrian Church of the East, the foundation of the first Theological College of our Church in the Western Hemisphere.

The establishment of Nisibis College is the fulfilment of a long awaited aspiration that the Archdiocese of Australia, New Zealand and Lebanon has been able to achieve in three years of hard working. The College will cater for clergy, prospective clergy and laity of the Assyrian Church of the East and other Christian denominations.

I take this opportunity to thank our beloved brothers in Christ members of the Holy Synod who assisted in the preparation of the courses and organisation of the subjects.

In particular I would like to extend my sincere thanks to His Holiness Mar Awa III Royel, His Grace Mar Abris Youkhana and Archdeacon William Toma. I would also like to thank His Grace Mar Benyamin Elya for his continuous and tireless work in organising and managing the day to day operations in order to make possible the starting of the academic year of 2021.

We pray for the success of our College in the integral role it has in the preservation of our Assyrian culture and faith for the glory of God.

+ Mar Meelis Zaia AM
Metropolitan
