The Associate Degree of Christian Thought and Practice course is an undergraduate award that provides an opportunity to undertake some theological study with special focus on Christian Thought (including Biblical Studies, Theology, and Humanities in the Christian Tradition) or on Christian Practice (including Christian Life and Ministry).

Course Structure

144 credit points (16 course units) at AQF 7 level (7100–7200 series)

  • at least two course units (18 credit points) in Biblical Studies
  • at least two course units (18 credit points) in Systematic Theology
  • one major (54 credit points) in Christian Thought or in Christian Practice

Christian Thought: Biblical Studies, Church History, Philosophy, Theology

Christian Practice: Christian Spirituality, Mission, Pastoral Counselling, Pastoral Theology

Articulation to Other Awards

The Associate Degree is a stand-alone award, however it can also qualify students for the Bachelor of Theology (AQF 7), should they wish to further their studies. Thus, the Associate Degree articulates directly into the Bachelor of Theology. Upon completion of the Bachelor of Theology the student is required to surrender their Associate Degree in Christian Thought and Practice.
